Simply amazing!!
I've been relaxing my hair for 16 years...and believe me I've tried everything from Revlon's Fabulaxer to Hawaiian Silky to Botanicals Something-or-other... Believe me when I say that this is the only one that works!!! And works well!!I have African American hair that is not super coarse but can be resistant in it's own right. It is also extremely fragile. In the past, I've used relaxers that have dried out my hair and made it extremely frizzy and some were so strong that they nearly balded my edges...Olive Oil was gentle helped them grow back. My hair is stronger now than ever and have...for the first time...grown my hair to my shoulder blades. This product and rollersets using Olive Oil Wrap and Set Mousse are the secret to healthy hair...at least the secret to my healthy hair.I recommend this product if your hair is currently unhealthy and you need a change and would like to see real growth. I also recommend this product if you are tired of spending too much time, energy and money on maintaining your healthy hair at the salon...or if your currently relaxer just isn't straightening the way it used to.

Works, even for Normal Thick Hair
I'm a latina who has thick spiral curly hair to the middle of my back. Which, in theory, is beautiful in itself. But, to keep it looking good, I have to either wash it daily to keep the spiral curl (which then dries it out) or wash it and spend almost two hours between conditioning and straighening twice a week with touch ups every day(which eventually dries it out to). Who has that kind of time?

A relaxer at the salon was going to run me upwards of 0! Yeah right!

I was at the CVS and went into the relaxers section. There was a pretty African American girl working in the aisle with very smooth and shiny hair. I had already grabbed this box and asked her if she knew which one was the best one. She commented that she only uses the one I had in my hands, so I thanked her and grabbed another box(um, I have LOTS of hair....).

I was REALLY thankful that this DOES NOT HAVE A BAD SMELL! Finally, a product that does what it says! It wasn't stinky and I was surprised that one box almost covered all my hair.

My husband stated that my hair is soft and my mom didn't even notice that it was relaxed. She said it looks like it always does when I spend 90 minutes on it.

How great to find a product that works FAST and doesn't smell. And now it only takes me less than 20 minutes to make my hair look salon perfect.

Giving me my time back: priceless!

Great Relaxer
I had a 10 inch afro and I decided I wanted straight hair again. After I made this decision I knew that I didn't want to use just any relaxer on my virgin hair.

Initially I was considering going to a salon until they quoted me a price of and up for the relaxer... I wasn't having that, even though I wanted to try the phytospecfic relaxer.

So I compared the active ingredients of the phytospecific relaxer with drugstore relaxers and I found the Organic Root Relaxer had all the ingredients of the phytospecific relaxer minus one ingredient. I was excited.

I bought the Organic Root relaxer quickly before I changed my mind, and I relaxed my hair. It looks great! It feels great and it looks like I had my hair done at the salon. But instead of paying I paid bucks. You can't beat it... it's a great product. I will continue to use this relaxer as long as they make it.

Change name to "Hairaway"
I really wanted this product to work.

I even went out of my way to go to a store "in da hood" that carried it. There are 8 yes 8 Walgreen's between my home and my work and NONE of them carry this product. The ghetto Walgreens did. SO I drove 5 miles in the direction opposite my work to home route to pick it up . I was so committed to the idea of a "chemical free" relaxer that I bought 2 jars at once @ 20 dollars a jar. This stuff made my hair sooooo dry and brittle that I have lost more than 2 inches of hair(bra strap,AA relaxed) Mind you, I am a person who takes impeccable care of my hair after co-washing I DC, detangle in the shower, follow up with a leave in and seal with my own mix of shea butter and olive oil , I follow this with a rollerset and hood dryer dry to half and air dry the rest of the way.
This stuff is not for everyone. It made my hair like black straw in spite of moisturizing conditioners and such. I have stopped using it and with henna treatments and DC my hair is filling back in. While I wouldn't say don't use it I would say use with caution. I have a complete un opened jar I would give away but can't find anybody that I(hate enough and) could give it to and not have a case of conscience
My next foray into unknown straighteners will be phtyo but i need to save my pennies after spending my product junkie money on this. LOL

Only a skunk could love!
This product contains a known eye irritant which might be forgivable if the product did not have to remain in the hair a minimum of 3 hrs. This would also be forgivable if it had a tolerable scent. The stench is so bad that my husband actually gets angry with me for wearing it around him. My daughter does not want to be around me for the same reason. You cannot go anywhere with this product in your hair unless you enjoy people moving away from you to avoid the odor. Essentially this is only a usable product if you are a skunk or do not live among the human population. Questionably in the ingredient list all the ingredients are not listed. If this company could make the smell of this product tolerable it seems to produce results even if at a snails pace. I would have given this product 5 stars if it had had a pleasant odor; as it is I WARN EVERYONE TO STEER CLEAR and search for an alternative product.

not sure its worth the trouble
I must say before ordering this product I read both negative and positive review on this Amazon board. Because the reviews were mostly positive, I convinced myself I could deal with the unpleasant smell of this product, afterall I've used relaxers for years and none of them smelled good. but regular relaxers don't need to stay on for 8 hours or overnight as recommended on the jar. The smell was absolutely terrible(like amonia and vinegar)it smelled toxic. I persited and applied it to my hair and even kept it in overnight. I found it impossible to fall asleep the fumes gave me the worst headache.

I followed the directions and it did work, it loosened the curls and
there was little to no hair loss after washing the product out. I Undertand that it takes several applications to eventually "straighten" out your hair, but honestly,I don't think I have that kind of patience and I can't deal with the smell(Seriously it's that bad). It says This product can be used on children, I do not recommend that. Like most of you I was looking for an alternative to chemical relaxers but because of the smell and hazzard(chemical can get on your pillow case and in your eyes). I think you are better off using a chemical relaxer until something better comes along, unfortunately this is not it.

Hard to believe - IT WORKS!!!!
Okay... just call me a product junkie! I have tried EVERYTHING to help me with my thick, coily, kinky African-American hair. I was on the fence about this product for so many months (though I cannot find anything negative about this product in any search engine!). I am totally natural (no relaxer) so when I read this can relax my hair naturally - I thought, yeah... RIGHT!! So one day, I bit the bullet (being the product junkie I am) when I saw it in my local Walgreen's and I decided... what the heck.

Let me say that IMMEDIATELY, my thick hair was easy to comb and felt slick when I applied it. Frizz was gone. Then I used the overnight application 2 to 3 times a week the first 2 weeks (and daily as a styling aid), but not drying it straight as the instructions indicate. After those 2 weeks, I thought my hair was feeling dry (I know now that I just was not used to my hair feeling this way since it was changing). I didn't notice any change, but normally I would need literally a hand FULL of shampoo to wash my hair; however, after using this, I need MUCH less shampoo to lather my hair. SOMETHING was happening.

To make a long story short, the other poster who commented that your hair must be pulled straight during the overnight application AND the drying stage is absolutely correct. I usually wash and go; not big on blow drying or heat styling, BUT... If you want to see more dramatic results, make sure you dry your hair as straight as possible. I have the Revlon Wet-To-Set flat iron and I used it on my wet hair to dry and straighten at the same time. After I did that, in 1 more overnight application and wet flat ironing, my coily spiral locks were stretched to a supercute S-curl pattern. DRYING STRAIGHT IS DEFINITELY THE KEY! I have just finished my first jar and LOVE the results. The thing is you have to stick to it and make sure you keep your hair as straight as possible while it dries. It really does work! I have no doubt that by the end of my next jar, I will have my desire results - maybe sooner! ;)

I love this stuff!
This product does just what it says it will. I use it as a leave in conditioner so I haven't quite achieved the straight look, but I have noticed my hair is smoother and more manageable. It also doesn't frizz up in damp weather anymore. If used properly, this product is great!

Best Effin Relaxer Ever
I actually did a touch up on my hair with this product yesterday which is Thursday. I ordered the relaxer kit from bluebeez on amazon and it came fast. This affirm perm is great!I did it myself and I just totally love it.I may do a video review later but its just so great.

I LOVE THIS!!!
This relaxer is great....probably the best I have ever used on my hair (medium with sensitive scalp). Apply it with the steps indicated in the directions and I get perfect healthy looking hair every time. Straight without combing through but hair has lots of movement!

This hands down the best relaxer system I have ever used on my hair. I have course to medium textured hair. This relaxer breaks down my hair fast enough so that it does not damage and it does not burn my scalp at all. It also has a very lite to no smell at all. After using this relaxer you will never go back to using any over the counter junk with the pretty girl on the box again.
